PHILLY PHOTO DAY Friday October 26th!

On Friday, October 26th the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center invites you to be a part of PHILLY PHOTO DAY 2012!  On Philly Photo Day everyone in the city is invited to take a picture of anything, anywhere in Philadelphia and submit it for consideration.   Philly Photo Day 2012 is sponsored in part by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Philly Photo Day 2012

Philly Photo Day 2012 will take place on October 26th.  On that day, everyone in the city is invited to take a photograph of whatever you like.  We’ll print and hang every single picture for a unique exhibition capturing a day in the life of Philadelphia.  The exhibition opens on December 6th at PPAC!  Show us what you’re photographing.  Use the hashtag #phillyphotoday. This year, we’ll reach out to local community centers, providing cameras and teaching artists to a wide range of people.  These artists will teach photography basics like lighting and composition, help participants select their best photos and submit them to PPAC, ensuring widespread access to Philly Photo Day. And it gets even better.  Select images will be placed on Septa buses and trains and even on billboards for an entire month.  One of those images could be yours!

Philly Photo Day Rules

There are only three rules to Philly Photo Day:

1. The photograph MUST be taken on October 26, 2012.

2. The photograph MUST be taken in Philadelphia.

3. You may only submit ONE photograph per person.

Philadelphia Photo Arts Center

The organization fulfills this mission by offering educational programs, photographic exhibitions, lectures by practicing artists, and affordable access to high-end digital equipment for the creation of photographs. PPAC is a resource for both practicing artists as well as individuals interested in learning about all aspects of contemporary photography. PPAC provides needed technical services and instruction and promotes the relationships and connections that will lead to a more vibrant photography community.
