“A passion for fashion.” It’s a tired and trite cliche, but Andrea Chila is giving it the kiss of life at Pileggi Boutique. Serving up indie designer duds unlike anything else you’ll find in Washington Square, Pileggi is very colorful, a little boho, and plenty fierce.

Chila is the second owner of Pileggi Boutique, which opened in 1986 under the care of Center City style doyenne Joan Pileggi, who was already turning heads daily at her eponymous salon and spa next door. Five years ago, Chila showed up on the scene with abundant industry cred as a former PR manager for Diane Von Furstenberg and BCBG Max Azria. Her goal when she took over the boutique’s reins was to continue engaging Pileggi’s existing, upscale clientele while gradually introducing the newest, buzziest, and best. A peek at Chila’s “Style” Pinterest board sums up what she’s all about: sleek, luxe looks that set their wearers apart from the mass-produced crowd.
